The best way to play this game with a child is to sit down with them and have them explain to you the reason / thinking of why two items should go together. Here’s what I love about Bud’s Rhyming Words:Ī. I love how it comes in three levels of difficulty so that beginning readers can be successful too. Once they got the hang of holding down the arrow to catch the rhyming word, Catch the Match quickly became the favorite of my Five and Seven. Repeat the given word aloud, and name the pictures with your child to help him find the rhyme. I’d encourage you to try this game with your child who isn’t ready to sound out words. The word appears on the screen, and they can try again. But if kids pick the wrong rhyming picture, no problem. After creating my Read ‘n Stick Mats, I know that it’s difficult to find or create pictures that kids can identify without difficulty. Pick and Click was a little more challenging because it took some thought to determine what word was portrayed in each picture. This was easy for my Seven, great reading practice for my Five, and even something my Four could do using the first letters of each word. Then they match the pictures to the words within that family.
